Freedom & Expansion – Freedom in Christ

This week, we delve deeper into the word for Glorious Church for 2025, focusing on the biblical principles that enable us to walk in the fullness of the freedom Christ has provided. Saints, freedom is available to us in Christ Jesus! Isaish 45 reveals the extent of this freedom, declaring: Thus says the Lord to His anointed, To Cyrus, whose right hand I have held—To subdue nations before him And loose the armor of kings, To open before him the double doors, So that the gates will not be shut: ‘I will go before you And make the crooked places straight; I will break in pieces the gates of bronze And cut the bars of iron’ (vs.1-2). This passage reminds us that God has already gone ahead of us, breaking barriers and opening doors that no one can shut. Though we may still face challenges and delays in some areas of our lives, God has already freed us and provided a way of escape. Though we only experience this freedom as it unfolds in our human timeline, it is crucial for us to understand that God, being a good Father, already perfected all things before time. Moreover, Philemon 1:6 assures us that, “He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” Saints, true freedom comes as we acknowledge all the good things we have in Christ, for only then can we fully experience and manifest them.

Freedom begins with abiding in the Word of God. The Lord Jesus said, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:31-32). To abide means to remain steadfast and fellowship with the Word continually – it is the lifestyle of a true disciple. This means embracing God’s Word in its entirety, not just the parts we find convenient. Abiding in the Truth transforms our minds, strengthens our convictions, equips us with revelation to step into new seasons, and leads us into the freedom Christ has already made available. This is why Philippians 4:8 urges us to meditate on whatever things are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, and praiseworthy. Focusing on these truths empowers us to receive what He has already provided by grace. Galatians 5:1 also exhorts us, saying, “Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.” The freedom Christ provides is independent of our works; it flows entirely from grace. When we understand that there are no terms or conditions attached to this freedom, we can walk in it with confidence, knowing it is ours to live out and enjoy.

Finally, true freedom is found when we delight ourselves in the Lord. Psalm 37:4 promises, “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” This delight involves prioritizing God above all else, finding joy in His presence and His Word. As we delight in Him, He aligns our desires with His will and fulfils them in due season. 2 Corinthians 3:18 reminds us of the ongoing transformation that comes from this, saying, “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” The more we spend time in His Word, the more our minds are renewed, and the more we walk in the freedom He has given us. Therefore, church, let us continue to pursue freedom by abiding in the Word, renewing our minds, and delighting in the Lord. As we do so, we position ourselves to walk in the fullness of His promises.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for the freedom You have given us in Christ Jesus. We choose to abide in Your Word and delight in Your presence, so that our minds are continually renewed to the Truth of Your promises, and we are daily transformed into the image of our Lord and Saviour. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
