This week, we reflect on the vision the Lord has given us as Glorious Church, renewing our commitment to the values that define us and reminding ourselves of all that we stand for. Proverbs 29:18 reminds us that “where there is no vision, the people perish …” This scripture highlights the importance of clear direction and purpose to guide and propel us forward. Similarly, Habakkuk 2:2 instructs us to “write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.” Without vision, we risk losing focus and falling short of our God-given calling. As a church, we are grateful that the Lord has entrusted us with a specific vision and pattern to follow — one that is Word-based and God-centered, ensuring that everything we do aligns with His will. Our name, Glorious Church, is inspired by Scripture: “Glorious things are spoken of you, O city of God” (Psalms 87:3), and “that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle” (Ephesians 5:26-27). Therefore, everything we do reflects our commitment to becoming a church prepared for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ — holy, pure, and without blemish.
Living out God’s Word is at the heart of our identity. We believe that transformation comes not just from hearing the Word, but from applying it in our daily lives. James 1:22-25 exhorts us, saying, “Be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.” Saints, it is not enough to simply hear the Word; we must apply it to experience its life-changing power and see tangible results. Herein we see the dangers of only being hearers of the Word: we fall into deception, and we also lose the ability to remember. Yes, the Word of God is the strength of our memory — if we do not do the Word, we will find ourselves caught in the same cycles over and over again because we have no ability to retain the knowledge of God required to claim victory. This is what happened with the disciples. Even after they participated in the feeding of the 5000 under the Lord’s tutelage, they were still no better equipped when they needed to feed the 4000, and when they themselves needed bread in the boat — the Lord, exasperated, said, “Why do you reason because you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive nor understand? Is your heart still hardened?” (Mark 8:17). There is no shortcut. We have to be in the Word — to read it, to speak it, and to do it — because it is the very thing that is able to build us and give us an inheritance among them who are sanctified (Acts 20:32).
At Glorious Church, we pursue discipleship and community. The Great Commission commands us to “make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19-20), and by the Scriptures, we understand that disciples are more than just converts. Disciples are those who have chosen to put themselves under God’s systems and teachings, even at their own expense. The Lord Jesus said to those who believed in Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed” (John 8:31). Community plays a vital role in this process. Real transformation happens when we are integrated into a healthy, God-honoring community. Community is where God’s blessing travels; there is no manna falling down from heaven — if God is lifting a man, He will send and use another man to execute. So we have to value the community we are placed in because we are simply one relationship away from our answered prayers.
Additionally, as a church we also believe in being balanced, especially in the area of financial stewardship, which is essential for accessing the true riches of God’s Kingdom. There is simply no substitute for biblical principles to prosperity, these principles do not choose one man or the other, nor do they care for feelings: you simply have to do the Word! This Word is an equalizer, it does not matter where you start and what condition you find yourself in, if you apply the Word there is only one destination for you: victory! So let us keep these things in mind – discipleship is costly; it requires commitment, sacrifice, time, and resources; but it equips us to understand our position in Christ, align our perspective with God’s Truth, follow Biblical principles with soberness, and put them into practice more effectively. We are Glorious Church: Guided by the Word, Genuine in love, and Global in Mission.
